Minor update.
It took a bit of digging, but if everything works out as expected with the merchant, I should have the 72 cells necessary to power that 40hp brushless motor for the excessively large wing.
SPIM08HP cells are roughly the size of an iPad, and weigh approximately 10 ounces each.
It's going to be slightly tedious assembling the pack, but it should be worth it.
My next challenge is building a test "stand" capable of not being ripped from the ground when I spool the thing up.

Holy crap! How did. you get that shipped to you?! Those are massive!
The first 21 in the photo were passed to me from a friend. I just got a shipping notification from fedex on the last 52 of them. Not sure why I only picked up one spare cell. Still dreading assembly, though. I also should have gotten a few more.. could have assembled a dedicated pack for my pocket bike, and rocket truck.
Hey Chad. This is an amazing project. If I did the math correctly, you will have about 45 pounds of battery alone in this, as 72 cells x 10 ounces each = 720 ounces divided by 16 ounces = 45 pounds. This is awesome!! How long will it take to charge the 'battery' for each flight?? Oh, you might have to cable or chain your motor to a fully loaded cement truck to make sure it does not get away from you when you "spool the thing up." : )
Well, it depends. If i had one more 8 cell capable charger, I could peak the cells in an hour, roughly.
my dual powerlab is going to take the brunt of it... Probably going to use my mobile power station to do the charging, to save a bit on power fees. xD
Though, it's only good for four cycles, in zero sunlight.
I might have to make a post on the power station later, since it is technically RC related. On that note, the rest of the cells arrived today. A whopping box of 52. Also, I'm glad i picked up that extra cell, because one of the cells has a tiny gouge in it. It's not punctured, but I don't want it onboard the craft like that regardless.
