Has anyone had to modify the main rotor shaft and linkage for the scale build? I need a taller main rotor shaft and longer linkage. If anyone knows where I can get them or any other ideas? Thanks

What mechanics are you using Ed?
Align Trex 800E Pro with Torque Tube.
I have a couple of Align main shafts left over that I had made for a 206 project. Send me a picture or measurements of your shaft including the machined shaft if possible. These are 10mm diameter.
The shaft is 12 x 194.1mm or .472 x 7.641 the shaft is in the heli. I'm dry fitting everything before I cut grind or wreck it. measure several times cut once
I think I just need to find a local machine shop and ask if they can make one for me. Then find some linkage for it. Thanks
That's exactly what I did.
Thank you, wanted to tell you I have been following your videos on face book with the Huey, love to see it when it is done. Thanks
Hi, I am not sure that the 25mm tube of the 800E will go through the tail of the Vario 206 1:6 easily and most of all if its tail rotor hub will have enough space back there.
Probably you will have to use the full tail setup from a 700 (the 21.5mm tube of the 700--> 800 tail upgrade + a small additional tube part to get the length right + the torque tube of the 800). If you don't want to mess too much around with the tail configuration and also keep the traditional CCW rotation of the main rotor, the freewheel of the 800 will need to be inverted and don't forget to secure the torque tube ends with small screws as it will rotate in the opposite direction than normal.
Regarding the main shaft, pay attention that the shaft is straight and rectified correctly to avoid vibrations with the bigger length. Probably you will also need a clamp ring for the shaft like the Vario 54/14.
At this length maybe the super-rigid head of the 800 will cause additional vibrations, I prefer the Vario head 702/62, but with the harder rubber o-rings 74/10 for the feathering shaft in this case to avoid some wobbling of the heli caused by the 3D gyro with the much softer OOB 74/5 o-rings.
For the linkages you could check the 3mm linkages from Vario, probably ~125mm or make your own using a 3mm threaded rod (maybe stainless) reinforced by a carbon-fiber tube.
Thanks for that information
The torque tube fits all the way down the tail boom, one more question I have if you don't mind is the main rotor shaft position in the fuselage. I don't see any measurements in the spec sheet for the fuselage, and if I mount the mechanics on the wood frame, I think it sits to far back, If I place the dog house on the fuselage, the main rotor shaft will not come out on center of the cut out in the dog house. I understand this is not a cookie cutter kit which is part of the excitement of a build, but I need a little help in this part of the my first build.
Hi,
maybe you could check the following doc I made almost 10y ago :

you may also find moreon my blog on this type of mechanics fit in the Vario 1004.
Wow! I can't tell how much this means to me, exactly what I was looking for, Thank you
