Mike, on a flybarred heli like your Lama with the Trex 700 mechanics, your starting point should be 5 to 5.5 at preferred hover stick position, 10 at the top, 2-3 at low stick. thats judging you are running around 1450 - 1500 rpm governed for constant headspeed. On hold, you would increase the top pitch to 12 for that extra cushion during flare in flameout (:-) There are other things to be considered when following this setting, blade type, weight, length, flying style etc. This is just one setup and I am sure there are others that will give you different or additional tips as there are many awesome and techical folks here to help, this just my starting point and I hover at 1/2 or mid stick and I know you do too.
