Jeti and FBL plus additional channels
I picked up a Jeti DS-16 and a number of receivers and have managed to get everything working just fine on one of my 3D Heli's using the Ext serial port from an R3/RSW to my Ikon2, and all functions work just fine (I have owned a Jeti in the past but only flew 3D Pod and Boom, so that part wasn't too difficult). Scale Heli's may require more outputs but how do I access the spare ports on, for example a Rex 7 or Central Box while at the same time using serial EX-Bus.
Now, if I was using a Rex 7 or Central Box would I be able to use the spare ports on the RX to handle additional functions such as lights, extra servos for retractable search light etc. and how would I accomplish that?
Google isn't much help here.
Perhaps the only way is to set it up as a standard RX with a loom to the FBL.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is simple. On a Rex receiver you have two EX ports. One of these is used for the single wire connection to the FBL unit. If this is a power hungry unit feeding power hungry servos, get the second wire connection. I learned the hard way! The rest of the servo ports on your Rex or CB unit are set as servos so you can plug in the rest of the equipment such as lights and retracts. It is just a matter of assigning the switch and function in the device explorer...
Look at. Butch and his builds as he has a neat setup using CB and Axon unit, using spare ports for retracts and future lighing system...
Thanks for the info, Here is where I am at. I bound 2 R3/RSW's to my CB200 and bound another R3 for my switch. All good so far. Switch works and all 4 antennae have full signal. I was on my way into the CB200 in Device Explorer and it says that the CB200 needs updating and it wouldn't let me go any further. I will now have to wait for shipment of a USB Adapter for the update. My Ext. port on the CB200 I assume will go to my Ikon2 and I will manage the other outputs through my CB200. Do I have this right?
It is not enough to use only the RE7 receiver, the Jeti DS16 has a dual receiver expansion channel function, you can connect 7 channels or 10 channels, its order is from the main channel after the 7 channels in order (the secondary receiver is from the 8 channels (No. 1) to start arranging) and the ikon gyroscope only uses 6 channels, the rest of the channel control is still used from the spare channels on the receiver, the two do not conflict
Well... yes in. way. The servos controlling the swash and tail will go to ikon (or any other FBL unit you may use), while the other servos (for lights, retracts, cargo hook and whatever) will go to CB directly.
I assume you watched the esprit videos on setting the CB200... however I find Harry Curzon's videos far more educational and useful. Now Harry flies planks and we will not hold this against him... he does have a few good ones on CB200 and Cortex (Bavarian Demon gyro for planks... pretty much like an Axon but will work on all the gyros...)

and with an assist receiver (similar princile)

I hope these help

I found a video that explains it all I think. Minute 2:30 talks about EX Bus from CB200 and Servos for other ports. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt34pNK7Bqg&t=156s
UIH,
A side note here. I had an older 200 which did the same thing when trying to access the sub menus. . You may have to power the CB200 through power port #2 when doing the update. I believe the 210/220 instructions suggest power to port #1 for updating. Just something to keep in mind if port one does not work.

Ok, thanks Butch. I hope I am on the right track. As I mentioned, I have no problem setting up a basic 3D Heli. For example, I have one set up using EX Bus to Ikon2 and plugged the R3 from Ext. to the right port on the RX and all works fine. What I am unable to do so far is assign the 3 additional ports to separate functions.
I figure that if I start small with an R3 and 3D heli and work out how to access the other 3 ports for additional functions that I will have less trouble getting multiple receivers etc. working with a Central Box. Can you assist for a bit? I hope I am not asking too much and I don't like being a pest.
Thanks, Butch and Klem. I think I have it figured out. At this point I have Dual Path - 2 R3's and a R3 switch- both sats working and show 4 antennas - Ext port to Ikon2 - Ikon2 takes 8 channels (assigned 1-8) I then assigned 9 and 10 to servos and controllers and both work properly. I was hoping that I could change the channel assignment for the Ikon to channels 17-24 and then be able to assign channels 1-15 to other functions (all this is for the purpose of understanding as I only need a few additional functions).
Loren,
Great to here it all worked out.
