Keeping Your Brain Tuned to Your Transmitter
I have 5 helicopters on my Jeti transmitter. Over the years, I have learned that I simply cannot remember the different functions I have assigned to different switches. I have Axons in three models and Futaba CGY’s in the others. I have three Pahl turbines, a Jako and a JetCat. One model has a Bambi bucket, one has a winch and water cannon, and another has retracts. 🤪
So, to keep my mind in a good place, I bought a Brother P-touch D410 (which lets you make micro-sized labels) and I labeled my transmitter as shown. I also take the extra time to use as consistent a setup as possible so the controls match the labels.
This is not revolutionary; it’s just practical!

I add voice commands too as I can review before I turn on the rec. On my world of Helos, Jets, Sailplanes having voice works great. I also have some logics that always help
What sort of voice commands?
I do the same, each switch has a correlating voice command that tells me what I just moved.
That sounds more like sound on an event vs an event activated by a vocal command. Is that what you mean?
In addition to the programming logic, I use:
1. Labels
2. Colors (shrink tube, I don't like the usual caps as too thick for me)
3. My innovant mechanical protection, same idea as real aicrafts switch covers, so I don't shutdown the turbine inadvertently.
The 2nd switch with home made arm tells the intended state and can be mechanically overrided by the main switch in case of emergency. Main goal is to avoid direct shutdown without passing by the intermediate iddle speed.
Very innovative!! Now I have to up my game! 🤣
Hello Michael, happy new year. I have many helicopter models in my FrSky X20's. I originally created only one model which englobes all the functions I use for my scale projects. All switches are mapped at the same location and only used if needed. All of them have the same curves and external governor which are very easy to tweak. Same expos, travels and deflections. No trims, expos or dual rates in the TX. My FCU's manage all these functions. And all of them benefit from the scale template I created in concert with MSH, inexpensive and beginner's friendly. RC helicopters are very simple and basically use the same parameters with very little differences between each other . It's so easy and transparent to switch to one model to the other without confusion. And of course my RS has all the switched labeled already.
