1/4 Scale Blue Thunder Scratch Build
Blue Thunder 1/4 Scale Scratch Build
So I've always wanted a 1/4 scale Blue Thunder and apart from the very expensive but brilliant Helifactory version, the only option was to do my own. The pictures will tell you how far we've come using the Vario Gazelle as the donor plug to make the conversion and then moulds. The model will use the exact mechanics from the Vario Gazelle allowing anyone who wants one the choice to go turbine or electric with minimal of fuss. I hope we will be soon test flying as there has been considerable progress on the first one out of the mould.
I still need to upload more pictures as it's further on than what you see here. Doors are full functional as is the cannon on the front. Complete front lifts off to give fantastic access to the mechanics and cockpit. There will be a full 3D printed cockpit to go with the kit.
A mix of 3D printing and traditional mould making has gone into this so far! Lots and lots of work!! Sorry for the jumble of pictures. Lots of people to thank too on getting this far.
Once we get one working, I will sell a kit if anyone is interested in one and it won't be anywhere near Helifactory money.
It's a BIG MODEL to warn you though.
I'll keep you posted!!

In your picture suite, you have what looks to be a badass EC120 in cammo scheme. What is that?
That's the donor Vario Gazelle that was chopped up for the Blue Thunder mould process.
