Vario Lama
It is great to be back
I am just trying to catch the good weather and get as many flights in as possible...
Unfortunately my dog was more interested in digging her way to Hades than taking videos so I had to use a gopro.
Still trying to learn to fly slow(er) and my routine is that I spend the last two minutes practicing hover. The plan is to attach a sling load to the helicopter over this winter.

Death of a Lama
Just when I started a chaptered story...
This is hard to post but I guess it is a part of the hobby.
This video is the last flight of this Lama.
I was fortunate to have a buddy tape the flight and the crash itself. As I was coming back from the turn I wanted to do another low pass but changed my mind and wanted to climb up. When I gave it the cyclic input the 2s LiPo could not handle the surge and just caved in. 26 cycles on a GensAce should handle three DS610, one DS650 and BD Axon (the lights were off during this flight) but as it appears it was a bit too much.
In a way I was fortunate, the altitude was low, the ground was soft (did not even bend the skids) and mechanics survived along with the tail rotor.
Canopy, lattice and main blades are gone so I guess I will not be rebuilding this one.
Lesson identified in this crash is to use the cable loom to power the BD Axon (something I was asking Gonzalo about when I noticed it in his build) and two 2s LiPos to power the electronics...

Dammit Mann. Was looking great until...
A moment...

Remember when I was asking you about the CB200 and Axon combo...
I was also asking Gonzalo as he uses the cable loom in his big Chinook... he told me that the reason is power redundancy to Axon and servos...
But for 47 flight I had no issues with Lama... until I did...
Gosh, so sorry.....it happens to all of us....
Sorry for the loss but spectacular for sure
