Agree with Michael. I generally configure my collective setup so it is -3 deg on the low side and +11.5 deg on the high side. That’s pretty much all there is too it.

I’ve got about a 50/50 mix. I love anything that flies, especially if it’s scale. On the bench now are both a 500 size Skycrane, and a 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft which will eventually carry the Shuttle Enterprise.

It’s so dependent on size and aircraft type.. It varies so much. With some models like my 500 size Sikorsky S-51, no ballast is needed. For others, like my 500 size Apache and UH-34, the noses are stuffed with lead. It definitely tends to be more problematic for aircraft with short nose sections,...

I’ve been doing scale helis for a fairly short period compared to some of you guys, but I’ve been at it since 2014. All electric so far, and mostly in the sub 800 size.

I’ve purchased direct from them. I own their 500 size UH-1C, UH-1D, UH-34, and OH-58A. Communication can be a bit troublesome, best done through Facebook messenger to their page, but they’ve always come through. The great thing is, they custom build to your request. 60 seems a bit on the low side. I run a HobbyWing 120 in mine. Are you planning on the 4 blade head? The 1200kv is definitely on the high side. I run the scorpion 900KV 3226 motor in mine with the 4 blade head and tail.

Searched around and seems everyone is out of stock, as usual. Consider hitting up Mike Spinner. He custom builds skids that are a lot nicer and far more detailed/durable than the stock units. I’ve converted quite a few 500 size helis to multiblade heads in scale conversions. For all of my projects, I’ve used equivalent or sometimes longer blades than stock. The main change that I recommend is the motor. I usually change the motor to target a headspeed of ~1700 rpm for a 5 blade head....

I can see that being annoying to some, but it’s also standard practice in some places. In Bell test, most of our test aircraft are referred to by sequential number of the prototype. A lot easier to talk about Ship 1 or Ship 2, than Bell 525 serial number 62002.

Thanks! I used the Align 4 blade head and unfortunately the blades are discontinued. They used to be available on Aliexpress. If you are in Europe, HeliTec makes some excellent 430mm blades that would work great, but you can’t get them in the USA.

Thanks! It was fun and interesting to do a deep dive into the history of one airframe. I’ve even been able to get some photos of the data plate, which I will add to the model in decals form. As for the text, I don’t believe so, but I’ll double check. The way I saw it, there was not an “i” present.
