Hello, there will be a "L" shaped foam installed on the carbon plates so the Lipo's can not touch the screw and ALu base frame.

Very interesting video, so you can see really what is happening. I always make a stable and sustainable connection as close to the topside of the mechanics as possible, never had issue's with vibration. Thanks for sharing the video!

The big advantage is that you can continue uninterrupted, no glue that has to cure.

This is how it works.

This is the milling aid strip, so the distance of the rivets is consistent.

They were milled with a stainless steel tube in a handheld drilling machine. I will post some extra pictures .

The advantage of the Ultra guard backup system compared to a Capacitor buffer backup system is the visual flashing warning led in case of Bec power faillure.

Clean work on the interior, will be a true scale machine. Good place @ the backseat for the Lipo's, easy acces.

It is almost the only way to establish an backlash free rudder ptich control at the 70° angle of the Apache. Any "Sullivan" type pushrod has to much backlash in the curve upwards the tail gearbox.

Thanks, the angular gears are al lot bigger (module 1) so they can handle more torque. In case of a four blade TR a lot safer and more durable.

That was my intention, make a small window in the Alu gearbox housing so that i can see, check and lubricate the gears. Inspection window on the side is foreseen in the Cobra fuselage. Thanks, that is part of the improved sustainability regarding the RPM of the tail drive torque tube.

I use the Ultra guard backup system or Capacitor buffer system, plenty of capacity to preform an safe autorotation. Less complicated than dual powers supply lipo's that need attention when to be stored.

Full Alu housing and the four large ball bearings is total 77 grams. So a difference of approx 70 grams.

Original plastic case without the 4 small ball bearings is 6 grams.

That is right Rémy, it is not always plug and fly, sometimes we have to do some improvements to make the machine more reliable and longer lasting.

The servo was connected to a servotester, running in auto mode. In the final design, the servo was modified, electronics, and limit cam removed, and motor connected directly to de servo leads, so it turns continiously in the same direction.

The pictures are only a visual setup example. The third main shaft bearing wil be installed due to the relative long main shaft. I believe it will support the main shaft better, and avoid shaft bending.

It will be a multi year project i think, but that is what i like to do, invent and build from zero, not because it is easy, but because its hard. 😄

I like to make the servo wiring short and simple, FBL unit and Reciever on the opposite side of the ESC if possible.

Luckily I was able to place the lipo's next to the mechanics instead of in the cockpit, CG point is just fine now. Lipo's tray's supported directly by the metal frame, so no load on the fuselage.

You have a point, but i have extended antenna's (40 cm) for the recievers so the antenna's are 90° positioned, and further apart then they are now, so i have full redundancy.

I made new sideplates to have the 70° angle, the original side plates where for 60° angle.

I don't want to confuse you, the work is the same, you have to do every rivet one by one, but when milling the result is really consistent, even if you don't have a steady hand, thanks to the pre made caliber strip. And the most inportant advantage, you don't have to wait for the rivets to cure....

Yes they are, instant and consistent result, sanding proof and no waiting. The "milling" tool is a piece of stainless tube 3 x 4mm inserted in a Dremel. With a thin pcb drilled calibre you have a exact rivet size and distance interval. Simple and efficient.

Recup material from the cutout portions of the windows, is thin and very "bendable" Other side strips are done the same way.
