AXON GYRO: TAIL SETTINGS !
P-gain and D-gain
These parameters affect the overall feel of the tail. The tail has to hold the way you fly and more tuning is possible, especially for high speed maneuvers. Primarily intended for 3D-flyers, but worth having a try if you have some unwanted tail action or just looking to improve something.
- You have P-gain (Portion) and D-gain (Delay) to fiddle with
- You are able to get the stopping action you like by adjusting the Delay (D-Gain)
Lowering the P-gain (Portion Gain) is essentially increasing the D-gain which is a Derivative gain.
D does not stand for damping but that is its net effect. Lowering P, damps the stopping (lower overshoot) and vice versa.
Revomix
Not much of interest for scale flying style but worth explaining purpose.
Also recommended for high speed maneuvers if you got a tail kick on a pitch pump, you can dial with Revomix.
Can be done as last tuning step for nice crisp tail stopping.
How to test
Remember that your Axon has several banks you can use for testing purpose. This is useful to test configurations changes by just flipping between banks with one dedicated switch, in flight or once landed if you prefer.
Let's keep it simple with using two banks. As a start, make sure that all settings are identical in the two banks. An idea is to copy the bank you are using as base to the other one, and then change couple settings only there. You will also make sure that the banks are enabled as expected when toggling the switch; the led on the Axon indicate which bank is active.
Don't change too many parameters at the same time and do in steps, otherwise might be difficult to tell which setting is giving best results!
