Are you safe from your lipos?

Michael K.Jan 26, 2024

I've seen dozens of posts about lipo battery storage. I decided to dig around and find out whether ammo boxes or small safes or gun lockers would do the trick. I landed on the Zarges mil-spec transport case with fire and fume suppression capabilities. The case is EXPENSIVE (but so is my house).

In the photos, I show the larger version of the case which I originally ordered. That case proved too unwieldy and heavy. The guys at Zarges are super helpful and they took my return without hesitation and shipped me out a smaller box with even more suppression capabilities. Check out the video for the full look!

The case shown here is the K470 (smaller one) that I got instead of the larger one pictured below. There is ample room for my batteries, which sit on a Cirrux-filled pillow and will be covered by another one, making for a nearly oxygen-free environment for the batteries. This is the K-670, which, when loaded was around 80 lbs. That proved too unwieldy for me to transport back and forth. It was also pretty large so the footprint was a bit much even for my van. All of the cases has a silicone gasket lining the lid so that oxygen has no place inside the case. This limits burn and fume exhaust in case of a fire.
