Chapter 1

Lighting

Apr 24, 2021

LIghting system is Multiplex Power Multi-Light; 2 strobes, 2 beacons, 2 landing lights, red, green and white and controllable from the TX.

I am a long time scale builder, but have never worked on a pre-painted fuselage before. Scary stuff!

I have started to open up the holes for the beacons, rear strobe and red / green nav lights.

My collection of lens and light covers, the beacons are from the kit, the rest from the scale bits box. I have started to size the green light cover, it still needs to lose a a couple more mm, then the red will get the same treatment. The bulb holes are at 4mm, but the LED diam is 8mm, so just the lens top will protrude. This is ample for the high voltage LEDs and still almost too bright.

The wiring alone represents a lot of mass, and I am going to cut every wire exactly to length once I determine the exact position for the light control box and lose as much wire as I can. Total weight of the lighting system is 60g, most of it wire.
