Chapter 1 of 1

Raising the dead

Oct 28, 2026

I purchased an old Len Mount Scout that had been converted to electric by the previous owner. It had a very heavy motor (aft of the main shaft) mounted in place of the original turbine. I tossed the old motor and fabricated a custom mount for a much smaller/lighter X-Era 4035/4Y-300. I used one of my custom clutch adapters and machined a longer shaft for the motor. I contracted a 3D printed dummy turbine and hid the motor inside. The dummy turbine is open from the inlet all the way through the exhaust to provide airflow for the motor. The turbine also has many scale pieces that will be installed down the road. Nick at Red Lodge Helicopters resized a cockpit print to fit my larger Scout. More on this project as it gets closer to flying. The turbine and cockpit will be fully detailed and the gauges will be back lit with LEDs.
