I’ve been flying model aircraft for over 25 years, and for the last 15 I’ve been lucky enough to make a career out of it at Horizon Hobby, where I lead brand management for the Air category: E-flite, Blade, HobbyZone, Hangar 9, and RealFlight.

Outside the office, I’m president of the Monticello Model Masters at Eli Field in central Illinois, I compete in RC scale, and I hold an AMA Large Model Aircraft waiver for both prop and turbine. My current pride and joy is a Roban 800-size SAR Huey that took about a year to build. I also serve on the board of Hobbies for Good and run the @StevesRC YouTube channel.

If you see me at a fly-in, come say hi. I’ll talk airplanes all day.

E-flite's Dreamliner - A fun Story about getting along with Boeing.

Probably my favorite story from working on the E-flite Boeing 787 Dreamliner project happened during the Boeing licensing process.

We had submitted photos of the model for approval, and Boeing’s lawyers came back to us thinking we had sent them photos of the full-scale 787.

I got the pleasure of telling them, “Actually... those are our photos of the model.” 😂

I remember thinking, well, I...

New Blade Bell 206

One of the coolest parts of my job is getting to help bring helicopter products like the Blade Bell 206 to life. As someone who was involved with this project from the beginning, it's been awesome to see the community's reaction now that it's in pilots' hands.

What I love most is that it delivers a scale experience that normally comes with a much bigger price tag. The Bell 206 looks incredible...

Roban 800 Huey UH-1D German SAR

Getting the mechanics into the Roban 800 fuse has been an enjoyable process, but now I have to think about wiring the lighting which DOES NOT seem like a small job! Need to get my pilots to work for me while I'm not home (LOL).

Anyone have any tips for Changing out the pre-painted roof glass that appears to be incorrectly tinted? Just replace it or should I try and remove the paint somehow?

Really looking forward to officially becoming a scale Heli guy! Thanks to Helistorm, I was able to snag this in the silent auction for a great deal! The crazy part? I found out that my uncle in Germany actually flew on the German SAR Huey in the 80’s. WILD!!

I’ll be getting this dialed in with the squadron info from his pictures.
