600 size SA-341 from a Gilbert Escalier fuselage

Goblin 570 driving a modified Vario fenestron with a belt. SpinBlades 600, 8 minutes on 3500 packs. It flies surprisingly well in the wind. Egodrift, YGE 105 governed by iKon2 FBUS connection TDMX. Radio is X20RS, full telemetry and integration.

(When it looks easy, it's not)

R22 1/4.5

Cant wait to try it at the field. My only gripe is the main ratio and recommended kV. It comes with a 12T pinion for a ratio of 9.33/1. So I ordered an Eclipse 4230EC-370kV to compensate. Good news though, I learned there is a 10T pinion available which I ordered. Head speed in hover is 1175 and love the feeling of highly precise mechanics. It's about time a manufacturer offers decent quality at...

Roban Bell 412 800

After purchasing the kit from a friend here in Australia in Sept 2024, I spent many hours isolating a very bad vibration, it was 80 on the Ikon vib scale, I eventually found the problem and fixed it, on the way improved the tail gear mesh, balanced the blades. The net result was the highest vib is now the motor at 1-1.5 on the Ikon scale. I was never ever happy with the kit lights, so upgraded...

Mike'd Up Episode 1

Mike'd Up for scale RC helicopter pilots puts you in my head while I fly my turbine helicopters. This stream-of-conscious, live flight series will give beginners an idea of how maneuvers are processed and advanced pilots will enjoy relating to what goes on in their heads when flying.

Vario Lama electric

Ladies and gentlemen. This is what happens if you only get to fly once per month...
Nothing fancy just some flight circuits needing practice.

This is the last time I flew on this field in Belgium as I am relocating once more...
Just to give you some perception... the trees are 40 m from the take off point (25 at the closest point). Behind them is a rather busy canal and behind the canal is the...

FINALLY got good weather and a chance to fly the HeliClassics Mi-24 Hind after (a) installing a new fuel pump and (b) fixing the broken right main (which broke after a flameout from the bad pump). I love the way this model flies. The video is my second flight on this model since acquiring it almost a year ago!

Alterbaum makes a Bell 429 that is slightly larger than the Vario Bell 429. Both run on a Jakadofsky Pro 5000 (but both could do better with the 6000 in my view). I have had the Vario model and have seen the Alterbaum model. With a 2.5 meter rotor span and an all-up weight of 54 lbs, you can fly this anywhere in the U.S. without a LMH waiver.

My first flight on this HeliClassics Mi-24. I think the head gyro needs to be dialed down a bit and the right main axle needs a tweak. I bought this bird from John Christensen and Matthias from HeliClassics helped me (did all the work) convert it from Futaba to Jeti. We got lucky with a 55-degree day here in Colorado so I had to give it a whirl.

Thanks to Patrick Vestal for filming!

Me at Geneva Lake doing too tight Flare and descend as approaching the beach. Detected potential risk: managed forward transition with smoothly reducing pitch, to not overload disk/turbine and avoid entering Vortex.

This all happened last weekend: Sunday, April 23, 2023. After immediately inspecting the wreckage and the mechanics to determine what happened, I saw that the spline on the front of the tail's drive shaft was completely missing... it backed out while in flight. No drive shaft spline = no power going to the tail rotor.

I was attempting to autorotate the 429 down, despite what it may or may not...

Sooooo I took my Bell 429 out yesterday to get some flights in. I should have just stayed home because it was WAAAAAY too windy to do any ACTUAL flying and enjoy myself. The 31 MPH wind blowing down from the north had that poor heli bouncing and being blown all over the place every time I turned it east or west. I ended-up just doing a bunch of hovering to drain the batteries so I could head back...
