Latest in Scale Helicopters

I have 5 helicopters on my Jeti transmitter. Over the years, I have learned that I simply cannot remember the different functions I have assigned to different switches. I have Axons in three models and Futaba CGY’s in the others. I have three Pahl turbines, a Jako and a JetCat. One model has a Bambi bucket, one has a winch and water cannon, and another has retracts. 🤪

So, to keep my mind in a good place, I bought a Brother P-touch D410 (which lets you make micro-sized labels) and I labeled my transmitter as shown. I also take the extra time to use as consistent a setup as possible so the controls match the labels.

This is not revolutionary; it’s just practical!

I am wanting to monitor the total mAh used for my turbine batteries and receiver batteries. I also want to utilize the JetiBox emulator in the Jeti transmitter to reset my MUI-30 to 0 mAh after charging.

I have my one MUI-30 sensor programmed to accumulate the mAh and not reset on power cycling, thus giving me a total mAh used. This is working on the test bench using E1, E2 or EXT ports.

In my heli, I have a REX-10 with the following pins used
E1 - Axon
E2 - 900NG for backup
EXT - V-Speak
10 - Turbine
9 - Lights

Is the only way to add more telemetry sensors is to add another REX-x receiver (double path) and use its E1,2 or EXT ports?

I assume the MUI-30 telemetry data can only be collected using ports Ext, E1, E2.
It doesn’t appear a MUI-30 can be plugged into a 900NG backup receiver for logging telemetry data.

What is the method for using several sensors?

I made the switch to Jeti and going thru the learning curve. No doubt I am totally impressed, a whole new world of capabilities with Jeti. The Bell and Lama are converted, waiting on some decent flying to “adjust” the Axon (read Michael and Sandy’s article along with a ton of Sandy’s help). Also, a lot of YouTube learning at Harry Curzon’s pages plus others. I’ve looked at a few other sites, but thought I would post here first. Q: Where is the best place on this site to start a Q&A?

I picked up a Jeti DS-16 and a number of receivers and have managed to get everything working just fine on one of my 3D Heli's using the Ext serial port from an R3/RSW to my Ikon2, and all functions work just fine (I have owned a Jeti in the past but only flew 3D Pod and Boom, so that part wasn't too difficult). Scale Heli's may require more outputs but how do I access the spare ports on, for example a Rex 7 or Central Box while at the same time using serial EX-Bus.

Now, if I was using a Rex 7 or Central Box would I be able to use the spare ports on the RX to handle additional functions such as lights, extra servos for retractable search light etc. and how would I accomplish that?

Google isn't much help here.

Perhaps the only way is to set it up as a standard RX with a loom to the FBL.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am setting up a 3X unit and was wondering if there is an option to remove the servo connection from the 3X unit and have the gyro work in a serial output mode. some of these digital servos are power hungry and the central box is made to deal with that.(bavarian demon even makes a big deal about this by requiring dual power leads with jeti in serial-in mode) but if there is no option to leave the servos plugged into the central box (or receiver for that matter) what is the point of having the central box or the bigger power management RX's? it seems that the fixed wing version of the gyro has that option explained in the manual, but I see no reference in the heli-version manuals. there seems to be a black hole in data on the internet for this information. am i stuck just using the servo outputs in this unit?

Hey Guys, you might run into this issue like I did with my Baby Lama. I'm running:
- Kontronik Pyro motor
- Kontronik Kolibri 90 LV
- Bavarian Demon 3X
- Jeti REX7 receiver

As you can see in the video, immediately after spool up (slow 60-second spool), servos would twitch. This happened in my first hover tests as well. Here's what I did to track down the issue (with lots of advice from my friends):

- Checked whether there was an inadvertent short in the motor by putting an ohm meter on the housing of the motor and each lead from the motor. This can happen if one or more mounting bolts touches the motor wires. NO SHORT.

- Made sure I had a ferrite noise suppressor on the cable running from the ESC to the receiver.

- Moved the ESC out of the fuse to see if proximity was the issue

- Finally decided that the noise was coming through the power lead of the ESC directly into the throttle channel of the receiver and ultimately into the gyro.

I resolved the issue by adding a short servo extension to the ESC cable and clipping the power (red) wire on the extension so NO POWER was being transmitted from the ESC/BEC to the receiver. I added a cable from the receiver to the last open port on the gyro (for power) and added a 7.4V Lipo to power the receiver separately.

No more glitches!

Hi Michael , My name is Stefan from Belgium and I am verry new to the rc heli world. I've seen your course video about the pitch settings but I don't understand 1 thing. Your curve is 2 degrees negative to about 12 degrees positive. When setting an FBL ( Spirit FBL) you must therefore have a linear curve. ( 12 degrees negative - 0 degrees midstick - 12 degrees positive ) Not many people fly in our club Helis and they fly 3D , not scale . How do I change that 12 degrees negative to about 2 or 3 degrees negative without bending my curve significantly? I have a Jeti dc 16 transmitter. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I want to learn how to set it up properly. You will find very few videos for tuning scale helis and their transmitter settings. So, its has been a few years since I was into the RC Heli world. Like 10, haha. I want to get back into them, more specifically the scale side. With that being said my goal is to build a 700/800 size Uh-60 or AH-64.
That being said I want to get a controller first. (that way I can get smaller Helis to get back into
it). Hopefully I'm not opening a can of worms, but what are peoples thoughts on the Radiomaster 16S? I am leaning to Spektrum, but its hard not to consider the 16s at the price point.

My DX18 modification for challenged flyers with one handed operation is game changer for me and will be for you too.. Along with the pedal for the throttle and pitch, I am now able to solo pilot my aircraft. This week, we modified the pedal to a silky smooth operating one. The original pedal was stiff and sticking making is not so helicopter friendly. I also made a new transmitter bracket and painted it black instead of the original board. I am happy to report that now I can fly my helicopters again. Wow, How I have missed flying my Oxy helicopters and Hey, I'm back doing what I love to do.

I believe it will be released in EU in late May
Not sure if a U.S. release date has been set, of course FCC approval pending I assume?
