“Pencil Fight”

Mar 13, 2024

Hello my friends.

Has been some time since an update. Figured it was a good time since somewhat of a milestone has been reached. I finally got the power train all mocked up.

There were some changes along the way, an adjustment here, an adjustment there etc. S/N 002 “was” being built with the Vario 50° IGB. Also the TR control servo was to be installed below the IGB. Those two items did not work out as planned. The pylon on the 92 is greater than 50°. To get the TR in the correct position the IGB was too far forward in the tail boom.

There was not a lot of room under the IGB to mount the servo plus due to the size of the IGB, the servo would not fit under the IGB. It has been relocated just aft of the mechanics on the LH side. I will use an idler are on the IGB for tail control. I use a similar setup on my 67 and it has worked great.

The mechanics still need final assembly to get all gear mesh set and each shaft correctly positioned.

There are a couple other minor things that needed attention but it all came together over the past day or so. This brings the project closer to bonding the structure in place.

I will get a basic weight as it is configured now with fuse, (including cowlings) structure, and power train and keep tabs from here on.

Some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for dropping by,

UIH,

B
