“First flight”

Sep 7, 2024

UIH,

Many of you have followed my “scratch Build S-92 oner the past months. It has been a long journey with a few hurdles however nothing that would stop any progress.

Yesterday S/N 002 lifted off for the first time. An uneventful event but non the less, somewhat stressful. Sandy accompanied me as he did with my S-67 for the first flight. Another set of eyes and input for this event.

After a short pilot brief the time had come to put this thing in the air. Once armed power was advanced to ground idle. There was a slight shake as the main rotor blades found their center. A flip of the switch to flight idle and we were ready for lift off. A quick flight control check then announced I was” coming up” and my S-92 was airborne.

It lifted off flawlessly, straight up to a 4 foot hover. Another quick control check and it felt great.

The Nr is currently at 800 which may be a little slow but it felt good however a little touchy. I made some adjustments yesterday afternoon and will fly again today after 003 has its maiden this morning followed by both aircraft in the air together.

A few pica of 002 and 003 together and video of 002 first flight.

It was a great day to see this happen. Now we move to flight envelop expansion and the fun task of detail, cockpit and all the PITA stuff

Look for a couple more videos of 003 and both together in flight.

Thanks for dropping by,

Butch
