“Catbamboo”

Dec 18, 2024

With winter upon us it is time to shift gears.

I did finish up the stab mount. I machined the strut attach mounts which came out pretty nice. The strut itself was made from a 4mm carbon fiber tube, some cut down 3mm link rods to fit the ID of the tube and some threaded rod ball ends. A touch of JB Weld and good to go.

The stab slides over two pins into tubes and it held on with 3 each 3mm X 8mm magnets. That along with the strut makes for a very solid mounting. The stab being 1 layer each of 2, 4, and 6oz cloth it is very light. The mechanics are silky smooth so vibration should not be an issue.

This puts this build in the position to start the fuse prep work for primer. I cleaned up my work bench and this weekend will start rough sanding bond joints on the fuse. I have sanded some of the upper cowls but now time to attack the main fuse.

Thanks for dropping by and hope all my friends have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Some progress pics.
