Chapter 39 of 40

Airspeed, 60 knts, Positive rate of Climb, Gear Up.

May 6, 2026

UIH,

I have been working the gear legs over the past few days. All the wheels (6 each) and struts needed disassembly, sanding primer and paint. The struts springs Nd scissor links re-lubed and re-assembled and secure the brake wiring to the struts. Yes, my 92 has wheel brakes. Everything came out great and looking real nice.

As mentioned in past post, the gear retract actuators assemblies are from JP Hobby. The struts are from Horizon Hobby and are an upgrade for the 120 F4U which were shortened and new springs installed. The nose uses the same strut just a bit shorter due to the nose wheel steering.

Much of the exterior structural detain is finished up however there are a few more details that need to be added before some primer goes on. Not going to worry about rivets until after the flying season.

The goal is to have my VH back in the air for our scale event the end of June.

Looks like I may finally get a chance to fly this weekend. My S-67 Blackhawk may get some love Sunday.

Here are some progress photos.

Thanks for dropping by,

UIH!!!
