Moving along

Oct 7, 2024

I got to the field yesterday morning for a flight on my S-92. Spent the past week getting the wiring sorted out, installing battery mounts then inspection the drive train since we have accumulated almost 20 minutes of flight time. The drive train is working perfectly. The first few flights I felt the clutch engaged a bit early. With each flight it appears to be loosening up a beginning to spool up as I had hoped. Both the IGB and TGB rotate about as smooth as silk as with the MDM. I could not be happier at this point.

I had a slight issue with the nose gear. I am using electric retracts from JP Hobby. One of the gear retract assemblies sounded different than the others from the beginning. The servo began to stall about 75% travel with the strut and wheels installed. Eventually it would stall with no load, (strut and wheel removed). JP Hobby replaced the servo motor with a new one and now operates as designed.

The flight in the attached videos is all the same flight. This flight was 6 minutes. I am running 2 each 6S 10000 packs. After the flight, battery cell voltage was 3.9V + for each cell and indicated 64% per cell. I am running 800 Nr. For a rotor this size a 1000 Nr may be more appropriate. I was surprised how it performed during this flight. I did not have a chance to down load the data from the ESC after the flight yesterday. It performed great at 800 Nr. The short collective climb out at the end of the video should offer some interesting data.

Hope you enjoy the attached videos and pics.

As always thanks for dropping by,

Butch
