Let This Resonate With You

I was lazy today and was almost too embarrassed to post this, but I concluded that my cautionary tale was more important to share than protecting my ego.

Last week, I took the 1/4 Lama out for a maiden since purchasing it from Gonzalo and rebuilding the mechanics and fuel system. On spool-up, the blades were not tracking well so I shut it down and went home. I replaced the head rods with...

Head Behavior Physical Optimization

Find ideas of things to check if your heli doesn't stay super tight on horizontal axis when hovering, typically circular moving around axis. Can happen since day one or slow degradation.

1) Check the shaft of all swashplate servos: excessive play can result to lack of precision. Compare the servos, they must be identical. Check also when new.

2) No excessive play of ball links, consider...

Pitch Curve

Hello,
In the heli courses videos
In your pitch curve video. To get the pitch curve -100/0/+100 with a value of -100 to -2 degrees. Where do you enter this value so as not to go below -2 because in the axon the settings are -11/+11
I have tried various parameters but I cannot reproduce your pitch curve.
I would like to understand. If you could help me .....
I changed Gyro and radio so I am...

Autorotation Pitch

Autorotation pitch.

For our scale helicopters how much is needed? -2,-3,-6, more??

All my scale helis use similar pitch curves: -3, hover pitch, and +10.

I practice Autos on all types on a sim but only with my 700 pod and boom in real life. The exception being on a couple of occasions due to real life failures: once with my 40lb BK117 which was mostly successful with just bent rear struts and...

Hi. I am looking for a 3D printable file of a blade root for my vario head (Ord.No. 705/36). To ease the pitch setting in the workshop and fix the pitch gauge quickly. Does anyone have one ready to print ? I am willing to donate some subsidies if necessary.

Hi Guys...looking for help, advice, tips on setting up the scale Vario head on the Bell 47 that requires the 90 degree offset with an axon. Have the swashplate moving correctly according to simple diagram from Vario, not sure about axon software settings?? Any help would be appreciated. This one is completely new to me.. Thank you..

Finally finished building my Roban UH-1D Huey 800 size. These are shipped painted the wrong color so I did a total repaint, decals from Caligraphics, running 12s packs. Finally got the rotor balance kit on which gives it a much better scale appearance as well as added custom made steps on the front landing skids.

From Heli-Tec web site:

Dear customers,
First of all, we wish everyone a happy new year!
The year 2024 will also begin with changes for us:
After more than 20 years, we have decided with a heavy heart to stop producing rotor blades at the end of the year. We are already looking for a successor who would like to continue rotor blade production. The successor would take over all rotor blade shapes...

Hi Michael , My name is Stefan from Belgium and I am verry new to the rc heli world. I've seen your course video about the pitch settings but I don't understand 1 thing. Your curve is 2 degrees negative to about 12 degrees positive. When setting an FBL ( Spirit FBL) you must therefore have a linear curve. ( 12 degrees negative - 0 degrees midstick - 12 degrees positive ) Not many people fly in...

Hi everybody
Just about to finish my 315B Lama 1:4 and my question is what blades are recommended for the mainrotor, due to delivery and quality and type?
Vario has some problems with delivery after what I heard, dont know if it is correct.

Spinblades review.

Well, Where do I start?
I don't like doing this, but I don't want others to go down the same road I did, but if you do, this could happen to you.

On the 20th September 2022, I purchased a 5 blade set of Spin blades for my 60-90 Size MD500E from Germany. After looking around for a very long time at different options, and what is available on today's market, the main thing I...

Has anyone had to modify the main rotor shaft and linkage for the scale build? I need a taller main rotor shaft and longer linkage. If anyone knows where I can get them or any other ideas? Thanks

So I was able to get a Roban 500 size MD500 from MotionRC. I have a TREX 500 for mechanics in it and was able to get a couple flights on it before our field closed for the winter.

If I was to replace the head with a 5 blade head, do I stay with the same blade length or go smaller to keep the load on the esc and motor manageable? For all practice purpose, it is an older TREX, pretty much stock...

Hi Scale Pilots,
have had the following experiences. Perhaps one or the other already knows or takes it for granted.
Namely the following:
When starting up the heli, I sometimes had a slight shaking up to the nominal speed and then vibrations in flight. I don't tighten the rotor blades too much, just enough so that there is resistance.
Interestingly, the phenomenon wasn't always 🤷‍♂️.
In any...

Hello!
Just a little tip on how I am doing tracking of a multiblade head in a very easy way:

- Get a straight tube (I use carbon fiber) with the same diameter as the blade bolt, approx 30 cm long. Length does not matter, but the longer it is the more precise you can get.
- Add a wheel collar or similar to the rod as a stop mechanism
- Place the rod in the bolt hole in the rotor head
- Now adjust...

OK heli guys, so the next step for my MD500E 700 size is putting on a set of 5 blades and head. So I've got the Roban head and now looking at the blades.
The only 2 brands that I'm looking at are the Spin Blades that are Asymmetrical and a good price. The other is the Witte blades that are full symmetrical and more expensive. So we all know the difference between the two blades and both have...
